The mural at PRSC

Raphaël Dufresne was hugely popular in the Stokes Croft community

The friends and colleagues of a young volunteer and musician who died last weekend have honoured his memory with a stunning mural in Stokes Croft.

Raphaël Dufresne, 27, was half French, half Italian. Born in Milan, he lived in Paris, Rome, Copenhagen and even New Delhi - for no longer than four years each - before finally settling in Bristol in 2009.

He volunteered with the People's Republic of Stokes Croft (PRSC) for six years and formed the popular Bristol band Immigrant Swing in 2012 – becoming an incredibly popular figure in the city's unique community.

To celebrate Rapha's life PRSC asked his friends, the street artists Paintsmiths and Ryder, to paint a mural in his honour on their designated outdoor gallery in Jamaica Street, Stokes Croft.

Chris Chalkley, of PRSC, said: "Rapha was well loved. The image speaks for itself."
